LEVELS

The depth of knowledge in the German language is recognized at different levels. By studying these levels, You will be able to interact in a basic way, you can talk about yourself and your surrounding environment.

German Language Level -A1

A1 can understand and use familiar, everyday expressions, and very simple sentences, which relate to the satisfying of concrete needs. And Can introduce him/herself and others as well as ask others about themselves – e.g. where they live, who they know, and what they own – and can respond to questions of this nature. And also Can communicate in a simple manner if the person they are speaking to speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to help.

German Language Level – A2

A2 can understand sentences and commonly used expressions associated with topics directly related to his/her direct circumstances (e.g. personal information or information about his/her family, shopping, work, immediate surroundings). And Can make him/herself understood in simple, and routine situations dealing with a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and common topics. And also Can describe his/her background and education, immediate surroundings, and other things associated with immediate needs in a simple way.

German Language Level – B1

B1 Can understand the main points when clear, standard language is used and the focus is on familiar topics associate with work, school, leisure time, etc. And It can deal with most situations typically encountered when traveling in the language region. Can express him/herself simply and coherently regarding familiar topics and areas of personal interest. And also Can report on experiences and events, describe dreams, hopes, and goals as well as make short statements to justify or explain his/her own views and plans. German Language Level – B2

B2 Can understand the main contents of complex texts on concrete and abstract topics; and also understands specialized discussions in his/her own primary area of specialization. And It can communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is easily possible without a great deal of effort on either side. Can express him/herself on a wide range of topics in a clear and detailed manner, explain his/her position on a current issue, and indicate the benefits and drawbacks of various options.

TOLES

The Test of Legal English Skills (TOLES) is a series of practical and industry-led English examinations for lawyers and law students. The TOLES exams are issued by Global Legal English, who are members of the International Division of the Law Society of England and Wales. The TOLES exams are designed to be vocational legal English exams rather than exams written by or intended for academics.

3 levels of toles

TOLES Foundation is the first level in the TOLES series. It is for beginners/elementary level students of legal English. This exam tests reading and writing skills. The exam takes 90 minutes.

TOLES Higher is the second level in the TOLES series. It is for intermediate level students of legal English. This exams tests reading, writing and listening skills. The exam takes 120 minutes.

TOLES Advanced is the highest level in the TOLES series. It is for advanced level students of legal English. This exam tests reading and writing skills. The exam takes 120 minutes.

Test of Legal English Skills.

The TOLES exams test the specific English that lawyers who do not have English as a first language need to work successfully in international commercial law.

Commercial legal English is significantly different from everyday English, or the English needed to do a law degree with a UK or US university.

The TOLES exams allow international lawyers and law students to provide evidence of their language skills in specific areas of knowledge that are highly valued by employers, such as international commercial negotiations, company documents and cross-border contracts drafted in English.

Studying for and taking a TOLES exam is good preparation for international lawyers intending to do a course for the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE).

TOEFL

TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language. TOEFL is a standardized English proficiency test that assesses English Language skills in the areas of listening, reading, writing and speaking. Candidates who wish to study at an undergraduate or graduate level are required to take the TOEFL to demonstrate their English proficiency skills. The test is offered 30-40 times a year and is accepted by all Institutions in USA & some Institutions in Australia, New Zealand, UK and Canada.

TEST FORMAT

TOEFL Test format is divided into 4 sections namely-

Reading
Read 3 or 4 passages from academic texts and answer 36 to 56 questions in 60 to 80 minutes.

Listening
Listen to lectures, Classroom discussions and conversations, then answer 34 to 51 questions in 60 to 90 minutes. Break of 10 minutes is given to the students.

Speaking
Express an opinion on a familiar topic; speak based on reading and listening tasks, the students have to perform 6 tasks in 20 minutes.

Writing
Write essay responses based on reading and listening tasks; support an opinion in writing, Such 2 tasks are to be completed in 50 minutes.

The Total duration of the entire Test Format is 4 Hours.

SECTIONS

Reading
Reading tests candidates’ ability to read and comprehend the passages, and answer the questions based on the same. It consists of 3 – 4 passages and each passage having 13 – 15 questions on it. It lasts for approximately 60 – 80 minutes.

Listening
Listening tests candidates’ ability to understand spoken English that is typical of interactions in academic environment. It comprises the talks and lectures of generally American speakers. Listening has two formats i.e. Short Format (SF) and Long Format (LF), one of which appears in the test. SF comprises 6 talks of which 3 are conversations and 3 are lectures. LF has 9 talks of which 3 are conversations and 6 are lectures. SF will last for approximately 45 – 55 minutes, whereas LF lasts approximately 70 – 80 minutes.

Speaking
Speaking tests a candidate’s ability to converse in English. Speaking has 6 questions prompts which include independent speaking questions, as well as integrated speaking questions. Candidates are given a few seconds to think and the time allotted to speak keeps changing as per the question format. Approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute is the time limit, per question in speaking. Overall speaking test lasts for 20 minutes.

Writing
Writing tests a candidate’s ability to express himself through written text. It comprises of 2 tasks. In Task 1 i.e. Integrated Writing, candidates are required to read a passage, listen to a lecture and compose a technical essay based on the passage and the lecture. Time allotted is 20 minutes. In Task 2 i.e. Independent Essay, students are given a general topic to write an essay on. Time allotted is 30 minutes

SCORING
We offer intensive and comprehensive training services to people aspiring to obtain a desirable score in TOEFL. We have qualified, experienced and trained teachers, who impart training to our students.

How we train our students
We conduct a mock test on the first day of training, simulating the testing conditions, to gauge where the person stands in terms of his English abilities. The individual is given the scores after the test is over. Subsequently, we start the classroom training.

We use Princeton TOEFL Book, a standard book for TOEFL to conduct classroom sessions. For Reading, our teachers provide the details about various question types and explain the approach to answer the same. After introductory discussion, the passages are assigned and students are asked to complete the same.

Towards the end of each test, every question is discussed with the students and answers are explained. In this way, all seven tests are completed with students. Discussion is an integral part of Reading sessions.

Each section of TOEFL is graded on a scale of 0 – 30 in 1 point increment. Composite score is addition of all the scores. TOEFL is scored out of 120. 100+ is considered to be a good score.

TRAINING
For Listening, firstly the test is played non-stop and students answer the questions as they listen. Once the test is over, the answers are given explaining marking scheme. Then the same test is replayed taking pauses at every answer and explaining the same to students. In this way, the practice on seven tests is completed.

For Writing part, firstly the types of questions are explained with essay-writing guidelines. Students are made to practice all the essays of Integrated and Independent types from the book. Each essay is assessed and guidelines are provided to make the essay better.

For speaking part, one-on-one sessions are conducted exactly on the lines of test and the answers are discussed after the session. Scores are given and guidelines are provided to improve the scores. After classroom sessions, mock-tests are conducted simulating the testing conditions and scores are given for each mock test

PTE

PTE – Pearson Test Of English Academic. PTE Academic is a computer-based test that evaluates the Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing abilities of non-native speakers of English who need to demonstrate their academic English capability-often to obtain admission at English-speaking universities, higher education institutions or as proof of their language ability for a visa application. PTE Academic is accepted for student visas & immigration in Australia & by Universities in New Zealand.

Test Format

The PTE Test Format is divided into 6 sections namely-

Introduction
The student is asked to give a self introductory speech, which is untimed and this part is not assessed.

Speaking and Writing
38 to 47 Questions to be answered in 30 to 35 minutes.

Speaking
35 to 42 Questions to be answered in 30 to 35 minutes

Writing
3 to 5 questions in 50 to 60 minutes

Reading
15 to 20 questions to be answered in 32 to 41 minutes

Listening
17 to 25 questions to be answered in 45 to 57 minutes

The Total duration of the entire Test Format is 3 Hours.

Sections

Speaking & Writing (77 – 93 minutes)

Speaking :
It has 2 sections.

Speaking Section 1 :
It contains the personal introduction. This is an opportunity to give your selected institutions some information about yourself. This section is not scored.

Speaking Section 2 :
It contains read aloud, repeat sentence ,describe image, Retell lecture and answer short.

Writing :
Summarize written text. You need to write a summary of the text in one sentence. You have 10 minutes to write your summary. Make sure to include the main points of the reading passage in a full single sentence of no more than 75 words.

Write Essay :
For this section you need to write a 200-300 word argumentative essay in response to a prompt. You have 20 minutes to write your essay.

Reading (32 – 41 minutes) :
For this section you need to read the passage and answer the multiple choice question. It would be multiple choice, choose single answer, Further this module contains multiple-choice, choose multiple answers, re-order paragraphs and fill in the blanks.

Listening (45 – 57 minutes) :
You hear an audio recording and need to write a 50-70 word summary on what you heard. You have 10 minutes to write your summary. This module also has multiple-choice, choose multiple answers, fill in the blanks, highlight correct summary, select missing word, highlight incorrect words and write from dictation.

Scoring

Overall score is a mark out of 90. The good score of 65 which is a good indication of your English language ability in real-life academic situations.

For Writing Part, firstly, the types of questions are explained with essay-writing guidelines. Students are made to practice all the compositions of summary and essay types from the test software. Each essay is assessed and guidelines are provided to make the essay better.

For Reading, our teachers provide the details about various question types and explain the approach to answer the same. After introductory discussion, the reading questions are practised from test-software.

Towards the end of each test, every question is discussed with the students and answers are explained. In this way, all tests are completed with students. Discussion is an integral part of Reading sessions.

IELTS COACHING

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a globally recognized, standardized English Proficiency Test that assesses English Language Skills. IELTS exams assess skills in the areas of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. This test is recognized by over 9000 organizations worldwide.

IELTS consists of two types of modules, which are Academic & General Training.

Academic Module is chosen by those who plan to study at an undergraduate or postgraduate level.
General Training Module is generally a prerequisite for candidates who either want to pursue vocational studies or plan to immigrate.

Test Format

A candidate can take either a Paper-Based or Computer-Based IELTS Test.

IELTS Test format is divided into 6 sections:

Listening

It has 4 sections and 40 questions in all. It lasts for 40 minutes including 10 minutes transfer time for the answers to the main answer sheet.

Reading Academic Module

Reading has 3 passages, 40 questions in all. Candidates are given only 1 hour to complete reading.

Reading General Module

Reading has 3 passages, 40 questions in all. Candidates are given only 1 hour to complete reading.

Writing Academic Module

It has 2 writing tasks. Task 1 is primarily Report writing (explaining diagrams and charts). Essay on task 1 must not be less than 150 words. Students are advised to spend 20 minutes on this task.

Task 2 is Argumentative essay. Essay on task 2 must not be less than 250 words. Students are advised to spend 40 minutes on the same. In all time allotted for writing is 1 hour.

Writing General Module

It also has 2 writing tasks. Task- 1 presents a Letter Prompt (formal or informal). Students must write at least 150 words for the same. Task 2 is the same as that of the Academic Module.

Speaking

Speaking has 3 parts and lasts for 11-14 minutes. It is done on a one-to-one basis with the student and mostly on another day.

Examiner asks general questions to the student, which relates to his/her work, studies, hobbies etc. This part lasts between 4 and 5 minutes.
The candidate is given a topic to speak, which is printed on a task card. Students have to speak for 1 minute at least. They are given one minute to think and write down some points. This part lasts between 3 and 4 minutes.
It’s a two-way discussion with the examiner (questions mostly related to part 2 topic will be asked). The discussion lasts between 4 and 5 minutes.

Scoring

IELTS is graded on a scale of 0 – 9, known as Band Scale. Generally, a score of at least 6 bands for UG and 6.5 bands for PG is required in each section. The result is available in 15 working days.
